Mens Ministries

Welcome to the NTCG Cathedral of Praise Men’s Ministries. We recognise the need, not only as men, but as Christian men, to fulfil our roles as leaders by first setting the right examples for our families. Joshua said, ‘As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord’ (Joshua 24:15). Furthermore, the men’s ministries create the opportunity, through small-group activities, where men can be ‘men’ in a godly environment. We endeavour to explore relevant dimensions, including, the man and his God, family, church, sexuality, career, money, social engagements and sport activities.

Mission Statement

The Men’s Ministries are committed to developing men to be godly men of character and integrity (Proverbs 10:9) – in their homes, church and careers – impacting the Church and influencing their communities for Christ, as men of God equipped and empowered by the Holy Spirit.

Responsibilities

The Director of men’s ministries is directly responsible to the Senior Pastor/Bishop, and has the overall supervision of the men’s ministries. He is supported by a men’s board, whose role it is to assist in the effective delivery of the said ministries, in accordance with, but not limited to the aims and objectives set out below:

Aims and Objectives

Our aims and objectives are to strive for excellence; aspiring to be a powerful church with a difference; relevant to the contemporary needs of humanity; demonstrating God’s love and mercy through service, and creating a friendly, hospitable and spiritual environment conducive to the highest praise of Almighty God. Aims and objectives are always linked, and the differences are often unclear. However, our aims refer to the progressive changes we hope to achieve as a result our ministries, and our objectives are the precise actions we plan to undertake, including the services we intend to implement in order to produce these changes:

  • The main aim of the men’s ministries is to engage and mobilise our men as a strong force to evangelise (primarily men), with the view of winning them for the Kingdom of God, and establishing them in the Church.
  • The men’s ministries will seek to help men within the church to discover their God-given talents, and to find practical ways of channelling them to the service of the Lord.
  • Our first step is forming a vital men’s ministry that will impact the lives of our men in a positive and practical way, and will enhance the need to build up leaders, who will catch the vision and help to lead a potential army of men into a deep relationship with the Lord.
  • The men will also seek to create an atmosphere that is conducive to spiritual, social, economic and emotional well-being of all our male members, and those connected to the ministries.
  • The men will further seek to foster church growth by working out strategies to substantially increase the male membership of our Church until it is on par with the female membership, which is currently the larger.
  • To create and sustain a friendly and healthy environment, where (Christian) men may enrich their fellowship, and spend quality time together, that will make them feel more like men, but more importantly like men of God.
  • To encourage all male members of the Church to become fully involved in the Men’s Ministries.
  • To actively pursue men in order to connect them to God, His Word, His church, and other men for the purpose of reaching, growing, and training God’s men to model Christ.
  • To encourage regular and consistent Bible study among the men, so that they can apply God’s Word to their everyday life independently of the church or small group.
  • To train men to actively share their faith in order to effectively lead others into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • To make it a priority to meaningfully engage with the men of our Church at least two times a month for the purpose of fellowship, connectivity, accountability, prayer and productivity.
  • To assess the spiritual and social needs of our men, in order to plan and deliver related programmes, e.g., discovering who you are, what it means to be a man of God, overcoming temptation, guilt and rejection, healthy relationships, cultivating good values, love for God and others.
  • To address pertinent issues like: men and their, sexuality, God, marriage and family, church, money and community etc.
  • To invest time and resources into the lives of our men, and to make one-on-one connection with each other through shared activities, spiritual mentoring, and modelling etc.
  • To promote activities/programmes that will stimulate and motivate men to maximise their God-given potentials to become good stewards, faithful husbands and fathers etc.
  • To encourage men to be filled with the Holy Spirit and to know the power of God in a personal way.
  • To encourage men to occupy their places in the Kingdom of God, and to become active workers in the local church.
  • To motivate and encourage our men to support the corporate vision of the Church and to work with their pastor to deliver the wider ministry.
  • To encourage the men’s ministries to develop good working relationships with all other ministries in the Church.
